Start a new career or hobby in jewellery making.

 

This program has been carefully designed to give you a deeper understanding of how metal clays work. We are not brand driven, we choose the best brands of clay on the market.

 

You will learn how metal clay can be used with other materials and traditional techniques of jewellery making. You can see more course detail below.

 

By the end of this program you will be ready to start designing and making professional jewellery of your own. You will learn about silver, gold, bronze and copper metal clays.

 

No previous jewellery making experience is required. This 9 day intensive course can be broken down into 2 or 3 separate modules if you prefer. The cost of the course can be split also.

Course fees include all clay and materials needed to make the prescribed pieces and full access to the studio and tools.

Stay on-site for and have full access to our studio and amenities during your course

 

For those attending courses we have on-site full board private accommodation for €130 per night. You will stay in one of our deluxe en-suite rooms and all meals, wine and refreshments are included. Set in 50 acres of meadow and woodlands and part of a beautiful 180 year old farmhouse with private pool, this gite has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard and will accommodate up to 10 people.

Course details

In this program you will be taught 19 new techniques about designing metal clay creations. You will learn how to make a textured pendant, simple stone setting, making a ring, use of organic materials, use of wood clay for making hollow forms and achieving a high shine. You will then learn how to combine metal clay with glass, combining metal clay and metal, set a stone in bezel wire, engraving and using gold.  Finally, you will learn about keum boo (24K gold foil),  how to use  enamels,  combine PMC silver clay with fired ceramics and bisque, chain making, making a clasp, dry construction and making your own texture plates using photopolymer plates.

 

We will supply tools and equipment for you to use on the day and all the material required to make the prescribed pieces which you will take home with you
