Art Clay eduction is an education curriculum set by the manufacturers of Art Clay, Aida Chemical Industries.

This currently consists of three different stages; Level 1 Diploma, Level 2 Diploma, and Higher Diploma. It is advised to take an introductory day if you have no previous experience before starting the Artclay program.

'Level One Diploma' course runs over 3 days and has six projects focusing on technique, precision and finishing pieces to a consistently high standard. There is list of all the skills and competencies that must be demonstrated to the instructor and successfully completed in order for the certification to be awarded.

'Level Two Diploma' covers more advanced techniques over 3 days. There are four pieces to be completed during the course. There is a list of all the skills and competencies that must be demonstrated to the instructor and successfully completed in order for the certification to be awarded.

The 'Higher Diploma' is open to anyone who has completed the Level One and Level Two Diploma successfully. You can apply for a Higher Diploma once six months has passed since you successfully passed the Level Two Diploma. To achieve this, the student must make and submit three pieces of independently created jewellery (ring, pendant and brooch) incorporating specific criteria.
No previous jewellery making experience is required. This 6 day intensive course (Level 1 & 2) can be broken down into 2 separate modules if you prefer. The cost of the course can be split also.

Course fees include all clay and materials needed to make the prescribed pieces and full access to the studio and tools.

Stay on-site for and have full access to our studio and amenities during your course
For those attending courses we have on-site full board private accommodation for €130 per night. You will stay in one of our deluxe en-suite rooms and all meals, wine and refreshments are included. Set in 50 acres of meadow and woodlands and part of a beautiful 180 year old farmhouse with private pool, this gite has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard and will accommodate up to 10 people.
Course details
Level One Course Art Clay - 3 days
This is where you will learn many of the fundamental techniques you need to work with Art Clay, such as ring making, creating pendants, or fine and delicate earrings. You will spend lots of time working with the clay at different stages, learning about differing firing times and utilizing designs including using synthetic stones. Through all of this, you will gain a broad understanding of just what can be done with Art Clay. Courses include comprehensive and detailed instruction, with plenty of time for hands on practice, and lots of helpful tips and advice from your certified Senior Art Clay instructor.

Level Two Course Art Clay - 3 Days

This is where you will learn more advanced techniques related to working with Art Clay and other media. More technical elements are added to your repertoire as you start working with glass and other combination metal projects. Refining what was learned in Level 1, this in-depth course gets you ready to either consider being an Art clay instructor yourself, or just develop yourself fully as an Art clay artist.
